Urban Movie
The team shoots a film through the streets of the city.
What it looks like
A video says in thirty seconds what a page explains in a thousand words: what filming in a city is like, who holds the camera, what gets decided between one scene and the next.
What it is
Teams shoot a short film through the streets of the city, with the Dubai skyline as the set. First they develop the concept and write the script, then they assign the roles: who acts, who holds the camera, who edits, who takes care of the music and the effects. We bring the equipment and the technical support of trainers who make films for a living.

Urban Movie Making: a film in the city
Looking for a version of the Treasure Hunt that adds a serious dose of creativity to the pleasure of seeing a city?
We run it in Dubai, where the skyline becomes the set.
With the equipment and the technical support we provide, the participants turn their impressions of the city into a short advert or a genuine short film, with an idea underneath it, a plot and characters. First they have to develop the concept and draft the script; after that they choose who acts, who films, who edits and who looks after the music and the special effects. Every role is needed, and every decision has to be made together.
Action
Here’s an example of an Urban Movie Making day: look at how much entertainment the activity can produce.
The team building comes out of the need to separate the roles inside the group, but above all out of communicating and sharing ideas. Not even the most famous director can make anything remarkable without the help of the whole crew. Everyone’s contribution matters.
Urban Movie Making: building a shared memory
What’s better than getting home after a good trip and looking at the photographs? Do you like filming everything you see, and travel with a camera in your hand?
This format produces an artefact that holds the memory of the experience and of the city. With that short film, once the activity is over, the members of the team remember every sensation and every feeling they went through. The day after, they have a finished thing to show, and the habit of handing work over to somebody else and trusting what comes back.
And being able to watch yourself acting on a screen is remarkable. It lets you understand how the relationships inside the team work and, where necessary, how to improve them. The film can then be shared inside the company and outside it, on social media or as a promotional message.
Urban Movie: sharing the company’s values
It’s an artistic and original way of talking about the vision, the mission and the values that will carry the business through the coming years.
Giving a long-standing brand a new life by projecting it forward: that’s certainly one of the purposes of this kind of activity.
Another purpose of Urban Movie is making people aware of their own creative side. While making their film, each person becomes aware of how original their own ideas are. The quality of the message that gets sent, its emotional impact and how consistent the film is with the company’s stated objectives all get weighed up.
What makes Urban Movie Making so absorbing?
Why do companies choose this kind of team building?
When what surfaces deserves an afterwards
An activity surfaces a great deal about how a team communicates, decides and works together, and sometimes what surfaces deserves more time, more depth and a method. That is where a Team Coaching path can begin: a different road, to be taken only if it is needed, to turn what the day made visible into a new way of working together.
