Rescue Team
The team solves an escape room the size of a city.
What it is
Rescue Team takes the principles of an escape room and moves the problem solving out of the room and into the real world. There’s a mission to accomplish, someone to stop and a limited amount of time, usually two or three hours, and longer where the programme allows it.
The puzzles are layered, and often real mechanisms to take apart, put back together or build, so you work with your hands as well as your head. It runs across several points of a city, with a great deal of interaction with the places and the people who live there: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Doha. On request it can also be set up inside your own offices.

When it makes sense to choose it
It works well when you like the idea of an escape room but the group is too large. A room holds eight people, a city holds many more, with several teams competing at the same time and a wider spread of puzzles.
It works well too when you want the city inside the activity rather than serving as a backdrop.
It works less well if the group is short of time. Below two hours the mission doesn’t stand up.
What it looks like
A video says in thirty seconds what a page explains in a thousand words: how loud it gets, how much laughing there is, what the hands are doing.
How it actually works
The difference from Urban Game is the structure. In Urban Game teams collect points on independent missions and the totals get added up at the end. Here there’s a single chain: every puzzle opens the next one, and a team that gets stuck stays stuck until it solves it.
Time is the real pressure. If the teams close within the limit the mission is accomplished; if they don’t, it ends there. There’s no partial score to soften it. Several teams run at the same time, so a large group stays in one single story. The day after, what the team keeps is the memory of how it prioritised when the clock made it choose.
Each mission has its own story, written for the occasion and told to the participants in the introduction. It gets built around where the event happens and around what the day is for, rather than taken off a shelf.
Three questions
How is it different from Urban Game?
In the mechanism. Urban Game is a collection of missions worth points, and one can be skipped. Rescue Team is a chain: one puzzle opens the next, and there’s a finish line you either cross or don’t.
How long does it take?
Two or three hours, and longer on request. It’s the time the mission has to be closed within.
Can it be done indoors?
Yes. On request we set it up inside your own offices, and in that case the route uses places the participants think they know.
When what surfaces deserves an afterwards
An activity surfaces a great deal about how a team communicates, decides and works together, and sometimes what surfaces deserves more time, more depth and a method. That is where a Team Coaching path can begin: a different road, to be taken only if it is needed, to turn what the day made visible into a new way of working together.
